ACCSR Captain Teleah Grand…. Stardate 10112024… (just a little Trekky humor)
Blogs are about information. Our goal is to present information that will help you as a pet owner, pet parent, dog mom/dad or whatever you want to call yourself in relation to your pet (if you have cat’s? Let’s face it. You are the staff) make educated choices and decisions for your pet.
We all love our pets (aka fur baby). They give us so much joy and companionship. They are family. They hold our hearts. The last thing any of us want is to see them hurt, sick, or suffering.
But let’s face it: They are living creatures. So, no matter how good our intentions, they will get sick or hurt at some point (and, frankly, they don’t live nearly long enough, but that’s a blog for another day).
That’s where we come in. At Animal Care Center @ Stonebridge Ranch, we want to help you help your pet. We wish it were as easy as waving a magic wand or looking into a crystal ball to find the answers, but it is not. So, think of us as your very personal pet detectives and pet safety patrol.
Pet safety patrol is about keeping your pet healthy by preventing diseases, feeding them correctly (boy, is that a land mine of a subject), and making sure they are in tip top physical shape. Helping them have mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing is our priority.
As a Pet Detective, our job gets more complicated. Some problems with your pet are easily recognizable and simple to solve (think of it as a murder mystery where the murderer is caught holding the smoking gun (maybe I’ve been binging on too many murder mysteries…)). Sometimes the mystery is much more difficult to solve (think of it as a murder case with a lot of circumstantial evidence, but not enough evidence to actually press charges).
And in some very sad cases, we must ask ourselves, will the answer help us find a solution? Or is there no good solution to this problem. Personally, I hate those situations, but sometimes, no matter what we do we cannot help your pet the way we wish we could. I will say that since I’ve been working with eastern medicine, I’ve been able to help more in those cases. That’s why I love eastern medicine and why I am so passionate about it.
I have been in the veterinary field for a very long time. That time has taught me that people who work in veterinary medicine are a very special type of person (Crazy is one way to think about it, passionate and committed are another). Yes, we tend to be Type A, people pleasing, overachievers (there are always exceptions). We tend to have collections of animals and pets ourselves (mostly missing parts). We tend to wear our heart on our sleeve, and fall deeply in love with anything four legged and fuzzy (and sometimes even 8 legged and spiky, or four legged and squishy; yes, even no legged and scaly….) But we all have the same goal. Helping animals. The common denominator in every single person who has ever been a veterinarian or worked in support of veterinarians is our love for animals. It is who we are. It is what we are. It is even why we are…
Welcome to our blog. You will hear from me, mostly about eastern medicine, and you will hear from Dr Stephanie Barden, our poet of western medicine. Hopefully, we will pull in other poets and wordsmiths along the way (and maybe even have Kari provide some comic relief). Some blogs will be chock full of information and may read as dry as the Sahara (feel free to use them as a sleep aid), and some will be light and fluffy and fun. I promise all will have a nugget of information you can use for your pet.
I hope that you join us on this journey that will discuss all things pets. Because we love them. And we want to do right by them.
